2026: The Year of the Bowl
Part of my goals with doing ceramics was to be intentional, but also to push myself. Last year being my first year of selling ceramics, I was content to focus on creating and perfecting my mug design. I wanted to keep working on one vessel to make sure I learned exactly what I liked about it and also what people were interested in buying.
Now, after feeling like I have more or less accomplished that goal (there will always be room for growth and experimentation). I now what to add another piece into my catalogue. And something that I heard from customers during my markets with my mugs in 2025, is that you were interested in bowls. Lucky, because me too!
Part of the joy that I get from ceramics is the trial and error of a new shape. I had made several bowls before this, but never in a considered or consistent way. I wanted to make a shape that was dependable to make, functional to use, and hopefully beautiful to look at as well.
In my experiments I narrowed down the two shapes to what I'm calling the cereal bowl and the pasta bowl (though you can use them for anything you'd like).
The Cereal Bowl

A narrow high walled bowl perfect for cereal, snacks, soup, or anything else you can think of. This bowl will be decorated in two styles. The first as shown above will have the larger illustration on the exterior of the bowl with a small coordinating illustration on the interior. The second (not shown) will have the larger illustration on the interior of the bowl, with a variation of either no exterior decoration or small coordinating decorations. Keep an eye on my instagram for images of those to be released soon.
The Pasta Bowl

A wide low walled bowl that is perfect for pasta, curries, stew, or anything you'd like! This style will only have one decoration style with all elements being on the interior of the bowl like the example above.
Both of these bowls will have a variety of critter themes, similar to my mugs. They will also be made in both white speckle clay and white porcelain clay. While most will be fully glazed on both the inside and outside of the bowls, I will also have some partially glazed available as well for those who like raw clay on the outside of their ceramic vessels.
I'm really excited to be offering this new item this year and I hope that everyone likes it as well! Just like last year, I know there will be some tweaks and refining that happens though out the season so keep an eye out for any changes.
